Ielts: writing task 2 #Practice_1

Some experts believe that it is better for children to begin learning a foreign language at primary school rather than secondary school.
Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantage?

Recently, whether children should be taught a second language at primary school or secondary school has been receiving increasing attention. Some educators believe it is positive to expose children learning a foreign language early while others hold opposite view. Generally, I tend to agree with former perspective. The present shall put some reasons to clarify my position.

To begin with, according to the development of human’s brain, it appears that young children are easier to be modeled than teenagers. Because kids’ brains are still growing which lead them having more developing areas, making them to have higher potential to learn a new language than adolescents. Moreover, the important period of expanding linguistic ability is during the time of primary school. That is to say, learning a second language at primary school allows children to be able to pronounce a foreign language naturally with less influence from their native speaking. Finally, comparing pupils with juveniles, pupils are more likely not afraid of making mistakes form learning. With this quality not only can help children to reach a higher learning stage but also can build their confidence of learning a new language.

Although opponents consider that the achievement of learning foreign language is not associated with the age, there are more and more education researches show the benefic effect of learning a second language younger.

In conclusion, I approve the stand that a foreign language should be taught at primary school, and it has more advantages than disadvantages.
