Fed up with the preparation for English Exam.

Personal thinking after reading the news from BBC - India court recognises third gender

Practice makes perfect

I felt extremely happy today!!!  It was the first time that my English writing was marked 7 to 7.5! My confidence has been built, but I still consider that I should write at least 20 essays before a real test for IELTS!!
Practice makes perfect!!! I feel I am getting close to my target!

My speaking is quite okay, but I hope I can get 6.5; For listening, I wish I can get 7 and same as Reading, so my overall score will be 7.

Keep practicing! Action speaks louder than words! :D

Summer is coming

The weather has been better lately. The wind is warming, and the sun is gentle, it makes you smile always.

How I wish this tender weather can keep staying forever in Taiwan, it's so cozy!

This weather makes me wanna wear the cozy short pant or a lovely spring dress wandering around the country yard, or I can do that by riding a bike. Finding a nice country view, taking a sit under the shadow beside the tree, having a couple of tea and reading the book or a novel which I like are the best pleasure in the life. Probably the thing I plan to do is pretty similar to Alice in wonderland, and I think it's not bad to have an adventure like her but without the Queen who always wants to chop people's heads.

By the way, I just finished a book which is talking about a Taiwanese lady living with her husband, who works in India, and their crazy daily life in Mumbai (Bombay). I can't imagine the life in India,  it definitely needs to take a great deal of courage, so I admire her very much!! I assume myself that I would be like the Dutch guy, whom is mentioned in author's book , " I Never never gonna stay in Bombay in my life again!" he said hysterically. Lol.

Anyway, summer is coming, everything gonna be great!

Metric-- Gimme sympathy

Get Hot
Get too close to the flame
Wild open space
Talk like an open book
Sign me up

Got no time to take a picture
I'll remember someday
All the chances we took
We're so close to something
Better left unknown
I can feel it in my bones

Gimme Sympathy
After all of this is gone
Who would you rather be
The Beatles or The Rolling Stones
Seriously, you're gonna make mistakes,
You're young
Come on baby play me something like
Here comes the sun

after back to Taiwan...

then, you will know you have to walk a step on the road.

Peace will come after the storm.

Pupils 'must look away to think'

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/education/4602178.stm

Pupils should be encouraged to look away from their teacher when answering a question, scientists have found.
Far from daydreaming, children who avert their gaze when considering their response to a question are more likely to come up with the correct answer.
Stirling University psychologists found that, when looking away, five-year-olds answered 72% of questions well.
But when children had not been instructed to look away when thinking, they answered just 50% correctly.
The experiment, conducted among 20 children aged five, backs up other studies carried out by the Stirling researchers, which suggest that by the age of eight, children instinctively avert their gaze when considering a response to a question.
The mistake adults make is to interject too quickly
Dr Gwyneth Doherty-Sneddon
Dr Gwyneth Doherty-Sneddon from Stirling said taking the gaze away from the human face was very important when trying to concentrate.
"Looking at faces is quite mentally demanding," Dr Doherty-Sneddon told the BBC News website.
"We get useful information from the face when listening to someone, but human faces are very stimulating and all this takes processing.
"So when we are trying to concentrate and process something else that's mentally demanding, it's unhelpful to look at faces."
Adults 'should wait'
The researchers believe teachers and parents often mistake "gaze aversion" for children failing to understand a question and do not give them enough time to compose an answer.
"The mistake adults make is to interject too quickly, they need to try and hold back," said Dr Doherty-Sneddon.
"If they avert their gaze, it's worth waiting because they are probably trying to come up with something.
"There is this idea of 'look at me when I'm talking to you', but it should be okay to look away at some point of the interaction."
If a child looked blankly at an adult when asked a question it was a good indicator that the question had not been understood, she added.
The research, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, was published in the British Journal of Developmental Psychology.

Ielts: writing task 2 #Practice_1

Some experts believe that it is better for children to begin learning a foreign language at primary school rather than secondary school.
Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantage?

Recently, whether children should be taught a second language at primary school or secondary school has been receiving increasing attention. Some educators believe it is positive to expose children learning a foreign language early while others hold opposite view. Generally, I tend to agree with former perspective. The present shall put some reasons to clarify my position.

To begin with, according to the development of human’s brain, it appears that young children are easier to be modeled than teenagers. Because kids’ brains are still growing which lead them having more developing areas, making them to have higher potential to learn a new language than adolescents. Moreover, the important period of expanding linguistic ability is during the time of primary school. That is to say, learning a second language at primary school allows children to be able to pronounce a foreign language naturally with less influence from their native speaking. Finally, comparing pupils with juveniles, pupils are more likely not afraid of making mistakes form learning. With this quality not only can help children to reach a higher learning stage but also can build their confidence of learning a new language.

Although opponents consider that the achievement of learning foreign language is not associated with the age, there are more and more education researches show the benefic effect of learning a second language younger.

In conclusion, I approve the stand that a foreign language should be taught at primary school, and it has more advantages than disadvantages.
